My name is Carol Quashie-Williams and I’m an applied entomologist (crop protection) and agricultural and environmental scientist and trainer. I currently work in international technical capacity development teams for the the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. I have worked in many countries, including UK, West Indies and the Pacific. I enjoy helping these countries safely export and import grains and seeds, fruits and vegetables, nursery stock, cut flowers and timber. I am also a CSIRO STEM Professionals in Schools partnered with primary schools in Canberra and the Torres Strait Islands. I help with their veggie patches, identifying pests and inspiring students to enjoy and study STEM subjects.

My name is Deborah Bruckner, I currently manage the seed for sowing team in the Plant Import Operations branch, at the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. I have worked for the department for 6 years. Prior to that I worked at CSIRO. I studied agriculture at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. I also grew up on a farm and farmed for 11 years.

Deborah assisted One Giant Leap Australia to get the seeds in space!

Come along and hear about their exciting work!
