One Giant Leap Australia has created and assisted in creating workshops, talks, and experiences to assist with students interest in STEM. In creating the Gadget Girlz team, One Giant Leap Australia wants to give female students more ownership, as well as give them more confidence and a platform to have their voice be heard. Thus, The Gadget Girlz were created!

The Gadget Girlz are looking for some additional team members who can assist with some of our roles. Specific responsibilities will be updated on a monthly basis- or sooner depending on change within the corporation. To apply, please title the email with your full name and the role you are looking at applying for.

For your application, please type out your response explaining how you would be able to complete these responsibilities, with examples from school, work or other commitments. If under 18, you will also need a letter of parental/guardian support with your application.

Applications will close on the 18th of February 2026 at 10pm. Successful applications will be notified by email 3 days after the closing date, which may include an interview and more specific follow up information.

Keeps Jenna McCarthy (Education Outreach manager for One Giant Leap Australia) updated on what’s happening in Gadget Girlz.
Makes sure the group stays connected to the bigger organisation (One Giant Leap Australia).

Takes Notes & Organises Meetings

Writes the agenda (what we’ll talk about).
Records the minutes (what we decided and what’s next).
Helps everyone stay on track (time isn’t wasted in meetings, and everyone knows their next steps).

Looks After Gadget Girlz Emails

Checks the inbox and replies to messages.
Makes sure questions get answered and information gets to the right people.

Keeps Our Schedule Updated

Tracks important dates, sessions, and events.
Helps everyone know what’s coming up so nothing gets missed.

Sends Invitations

Emails out invites for teleconferences and webinars.
Makes sure everyone has the links and details they need.

Sends Thank You Messages

Writes friendly thank you emails after events, sessions, or help from others.
Helps keep our community positive and connected.

Keeps Membership Records Updated

Makes sure everyone who joins Gadget Girlz is registered properly.
Updates details when things change so our list stays accurate.

Shares Stats When Needed

Provides simple statistics about our members when asked.
Helps the team understand how Gadget Girlz is growing.

Creates Our Newsletter

Puts together a fun, informative newsletter every two months.
Shares updates, opportunities, and cool things happening in the group (with relevant industry news eg. Katy Perry on Blue Origin).

Sends Extra Notices

Emails important announcements when something new or exciting pops up.
Makes sure members never miss out on opportunities.

Issues Certificates

Prepares and sends certificates of membership and participation.
Helps celebrate everyone’s achievements and involvement.

For legal reasons, the Gadget Girlz Media Director position must be held by a person over the age of 16 years old.

Schedules Posts (Using Hootsuite or other social media management tools)

Organises our social media posts so they go out at the right time.
Helps keep our pages active, fun, and up to date.

Creates Relevant Engaging Content

Designs posts, stories, and updates for our social media.
Shares news, opportunities, and all the exciting things happening in Gadget Girlz.

Assists with planning, writing questions, and creating our Gadget Girlz podcast episodes with assistance from the One Giant Leap Australia Media Director, Michael Davoren.

Organises Chairwoman Talks

Helps plan and set up talks, interviews, and special appearances for the Chairwoman.
Makes sure she has everything she needs to shine.

Supports Media Appearances and Helps With Articles

Assists with preparing for TV, radio, podcast, or online interviews.
Helps share Gadget Girlz stories with the world.
Supports the writing and organising of articles about Gadget Girlz.
Helps gather information, quotes, and ideas to make each story inspiring.

Creates Promotional Content

Designs and prepares content for media teams to use.
Helps make engaging posters, graphics, and messages that represent Gadget Girlz proudly.

Looks After Website Content

Helps keep the website updated with fresh information.
Makes sure members and visitors can find what they need easily.

Works Closely With the Media Director

Teams up with the Media Director to make sure everything looks consistent and professional.
Helps keep all media and communications running smoothly

Teams up with the Chairwoman to plan and run awesome Gadget Girlz workshops.

Checks Workshop Supplies

Keeps an eye on all the materials we use in workshops.
Makes sure we have enough stock so every session runs smoothly.
Organises new supplies when we’re running low.
Makes sure everything arrives on time for upcoming workshops.

Trains for Workshops

Learns how each workshop works so she can help run them confidently.
Supports others who are learning too.

Oversees Activities

Helps run workshop sessions and keeps everything moving safely and smoothly.
